New York based international duo The Golden Filter – she’s from Australia, he’s an Ohio native – deliver some sweetly seasonal electropop with new single “White Nights.” Frontwoman Penelope Trappes croons in a sugar-sweet voice about love and life and checking lists twice over pounding drums and swirling synths. It’s half a quasi-cover of eighties psychodelic group Psychic TV’s Christmas classic of the same name, and half a cover of the reverend Jim Jones’ last speech to his followers in Peoples Temple before their mass suicide. Happy Holidays? Regardless of its inherent creepiness, it’s a well-crafted piece of music, and worth a listen, or several. Check it out.
