Producer XXXChange, formerly of Spank Rock and a whole bunch of other electro-dance experiments, got together with some friends – Chris Devlin of Devlin & Darko and video artist Ghostdad – to release a record as Win Win: out next week on Vice, it features Alexis Taylor of Hot Chip and Lizzie Bougatsos of Gang Gang Dance, among others. I guess XXXChange thought more could be done with the final cut of latest single “Interleave,” which features Hot Chip’s Taylor and his butterfly-fragile confessional crooning, because he decided to remix his own song.
The new edit, the “1993 mix,” is all throbbing bass and synth lasers over skittering drum machine, totally dance-floor material compared to the original’s underwater tenderness. It’s an improvement, in my opinion – it borders on radio-ready pop. Check it out.
