Here’s some oldschool shit. Fifteen years ago, Nas freestyled over a lively beat spun by track master Kid Capri, for The Source. Taken from the Nas Is Coming promo tape, which was produced right before the release of his sophomore effort, It Was Written, this rare freestyle showcases Nasir’s, as always, poetic tyranny. Though since than, Nas has proven himself one of hip hop’s most provocative and endearing lyricists, here we have the chance to hear the young M.C. during his raw, circa Illmatic days, which today as known as one of the best rap albums of all time. Last year in an interview, Nas had claimed that a new record would be released this year, and will feature production from RZA. Sweet.
