N.A.S.A – Whatchadoin feat. Santogold, M.I.A., iCatching, & Spank Rock (David Starfire Remix) | A Volta feat. Amanda Blank, Lovefoxxx, & Sizzla (Database Remix)

It hasn’t even a couple of weeks since the dropped, and we’re already seeing some wicked remixes. The first is David Starfire’s remix of “Whatchadoin,” one of my favorite tracks off The Spirit of Apollo. This remix is less of a remix in terms of it changing the musicality of the song, but it adds a lot to the original track — it’s a lot more enjoyable now, a lot more dancefloor-ready. I’m not sure what to think about the extra iCatching he put in there, but it seems to work fine with the song. On the second remix, Database, really transforms “A Volta” (another favorite) into a synth slow-burner. The remix starts throwing it down as soon as Amanda Blank’s verse comes. Great stuff.

– Dance Dance Dance (80kidz Remix)

I’ve never really given these Tokyo based DJs a chance before, but when you remix/cover Lykke Li, I’m definitely going to be listening. I really like what the ‘kidz’ did with Lykke Li’s “Dance Dance Dance.” The humming and bubbling-under synth sounds great with the Lykke Li-style percussion and vocals played over it. This remix, or reimagination of “Dance Dance Dance” is good for recreational listening, and not so much for the dancefloor — but that’s okay.

haha, I love the photo you used. That bear mask is so good.

These remixes are so good! The Lykke Li remix was my favorite though. I just can’t get into N.A.S.A. like everyone else…

The second NASA remix is just annoying. I like the first one for the reasons you have already stated.

But yeah, 80kidz stole the show (post) with their remix! So fantastic.

Hey, Jake, I love lykke li alot. But Luis posts about her like every day. I`m not complaining, (I like it), but I dont think we need to tell him to keep doing it

Hi, I am very much a fan of Pretty Much Amazing. A while back you posted that Royksopp rip I did, but everybody and there mother never credited me, I knew it was mine because I made a spelling error when I made the file :-) .

Now I find the Lykke Li remix by 80Kidz that I recently posted here… this time if you would care to check the Mp3 file it clearly says encoded by “too many sebastians” (weird huh?) but you’ve added a pretty much amazing url in the mp3…

If you want to nab things it’s cool but it’s always nice to mention who gave you the heads up or leave the Mp3 with information of the blog that posted it. We’re a much smaller blog than you guys!

You can check loads of things about 80Kidz and the Japanese electro scene at these urls: http://toomanysebastians.blogspot.com/2009/02/say-hello-to-japanese-electro-kids.html & http://toomanysebastians.blogspot.com/2009/02/more-more-more-80kidz.html

Much love!
