David Cook’s first single, “Light On” hit iTunes this morning. I guess I failed to catch this one when AOL Music supposedly premiered it. David Cook will probably always be in the shadow of the American Idol 7 runner-up — little David Archuleta — because, quite frankly, Archuleta’s music is a lot more marketable. Whether or not Archuleta’s music is better or not is still debatable.
But seriously, how terrible is David Archuleta’s “Crush”? How terrible is David Cook’s “Light On”? Not even Rob Cavallo’s GRAMMY-winning talent and David Cook’s talent ability to make soccer moms vote could have saved this Daughtry x Nickelback infused ballad. Undoubtedly, “Light On” will see the same radio success “Time of My Life” saw. At writing time, “Light On” is sitting at No. 33 on iTunes Top 100 Songs chart — making its digital debut today. I won’t be surprised if this song is in the Top 10 my tomorrow morning… hell, by tonight.

David Cook never was and never will be in the shadow of the David Archuleta.
At the top of this page it says “Stop Obsessing. Start Listening.” I suggest you to start practice what you preach. Obviously you didn’t listen to “Light On” becouse I don’t actually see a real Review of the song, just a personal attack on David Cook. This song is amazing in every way, the lyrics are amazing, David Cook voice sounds amazing, but since you didn’t listen to it you wouldn’t know that, would you?
Well, I like the chorus but that’s about it. The 2 Davids are not comparable in the sense that they sing different genres. We could however, monitor the charts and album sales and then we can compare them on the basis of marketability. I wish them both success.
Sorry, but the song is about 15 years too late. Talk about late 80’s early 90’s rock. Sorry Dave, but this is strike two. Call ruban and taylor before you release your next song because one more and your done. I hate to tell you, but D.A. song did better then time of my life and will do better then this one as well. Honestly I think D.A. is a freak, but his song did better and Cook totally missed his target group with this song.
Yes, this song sounds like something Cavallo would have produced in 1992.
Quite frankly, I’m tired of it. David Cook is a joke.
Love the song…bought it on itunes…great song…its gonna be a hit. I also bought archies song even though it isnt my kind of music. Quit the personal attacks on cook. Im sure hes sitting at home watching his song climb to number 1 on amazon and laughing at you.
Not a bad song but I think D.C. can do much better. He did when he put his twist on most of the songs he did on A.I., like “Hello” for example, that was awesome and I’m not to fond of that song until D.C. did it. I think he is limited with his choices and creativity like most artist are. All the execs are making decisions based on making money not music.
Not fond of the chorus but his singing alone is the best part. Cut out all the over singing and just do it straight.
I like dc and I like this song .He will do better when he starts to do his own songs.
Awesome!!! DC’s voice is absolutely amazing. I’m going to watch for his album.
