New Fall Out Boy Headfirst Slide Into Cooperstown On A Bad Bet listen

Leave it to Fall Out Boy to name their second single “Headfirst Slide Into Cooperstown On A Bad Bet.” Folie A Deux (out November 4th), indeed. Maybe Folie a Quarte?

Either way, “Headfirst” is is relentlessly catchy — but if “I Don’t Care” didn’t catch on (it fell disgracefully out of iTune’s Top 40 less than a week after it was released — radio isn’t looking too hot either), I’m pretty sure “On A Bad Bet” won’t either.

Where are all the Fall Out Boy fans that helped put “Arms Race” at #1? Listen to the track after the jump![display_podcast]

I used to like Fall Out Boy quite a bit, but I don’t know how to feel about this new stuff. I mean, it’s not bad, but it’s not exactly great either.

I agree — it’s really different. Their older stuff (even Infinity On High) was a bit more approachable.

don’t get me wrong, i love fob and all their newer stuff. but for me, nothing will ever compare to “take this to your grave.” that was and still is amazing music.

Headfirst Slide into Cooperstown on a Bad Bet is pretty decent pop rock.

you guys must not be real fans of fob if you don’t support their new stuff give it a chance and try to hear the whole album before you say it sucks!

I like the new sound for the most part. This new track has a lot of potential, but the hooks that made the last two FOB albums so popular are masked here. Seems like the new stuff is skirting around the borders of glam rock…excited to hear a full record

i’m pretty sure that pete has always written all of the lyrics for the band. since “infinity on high”, all of their stuff has been unapproachable and overproduced. ah, how i miss the days of “take this to your grave” and “from under the cork tree”…

Since Infinity on High, FOB 2.0 is too shiny! I also miss take this to your grave and from under the cork tree…I still have a blasty blast listening to those albums.

I was not a Fall Out Boy fan before but On A Bad Bed and I Don’t Care are so much better than any of their other music, in my opinion.

Isaiah – Totally agree with you there. Yes, tttyg was a good album. But it is the past. Give the Fall Out Boy(s) — now men — a chance to grow and develop their sound. I personally am loving the new music, especially this song.

Hey guys i think what we’re all forgetting is how true fall out boy have been. their lyrics haven’t changed from the weird overuse of metaphors relevant to even an evening out with your girl friend. Fall out boy simply can’t be distinctively genred. they’ve gone from Blink-182 style punk to something never really seen before. i think folie a deux has taken their guitar to knew levels of Hard core and they’ve experimented with the sounds of digital orchestral but lets face it it’s as rock and roll as 2009 has seen. and those who say, “i’m not sure how i feel about folie a duex i quote from dead on arrival the widely loved take this to your grave, “this is side one flip me over i know i’m not your favourite record the songs you grow to like never stick at first so i’m writing you a chorus and here is your verse.” in other words look deeper than you do at first you dont have to worship fall out boy you do grow to love them and fall out boy write their songs so that they grow on you. my message is forget about genres it’s fall out boy they could release a country album and it would be great. don’t not like them because they sound glam rock or pop they have no genre and thats what we love about them.

HAHAHA Kevin since when does “older stuff” by fall out boy include Infinity on High? Please spare me.. Fall Out Boy sold out with Under the Cork Tree. If you want to hear older stuff, try Evening Out With Your Girlfriend or Take This To Your Grave.
