New Hot Chip & Peter Gabriel Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa (Vampire Weekend Cover) stream music mp3 covers

Man, its the end of the year already and some amazing covers keep popping up. Earlier this week we had Lily Allen and Ladyhawke cover Britney’s “Womanizer” and now we have Hot Chip and PETER GABRIEL (!!) covering Vampire Weekend’s cherry-popping “Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa.” These covers are seriously going to change s**t up in my Favorite Covers of 2008 list.

Where exactly did this cover come from? Apparently not from Hot Chip’s upcoming EP (due out next Monday/Tuesday), but from VW’s “Cape Cod…” single. My super-reliable sources tell me that “the cover was recorded over the summer at Gabriel’s Real World studios in Box, Wiltshire. It was supposed to be featured on the single for ‘Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa’ but didn’t make it. The song is featured on XL’s 08-09 Sampler.” Cool deal.

This song could have easily found its place in Hot Chip’s Made in the Dark. Could have easily been a highlight. But I guess I’m okay with it being my favorite cover of the year.

Why didn’t this make the single? Weird.

So. Damn. Good. This is without a doubt one of my favorite covers of the year (but the Friendly Fires cover of “i’m Good I’m Gone” was pretty okay too!)

I’m not a huge VW fan, they were decent at Pitchfork but this is a wonderful cover.
