It seems like new Lil Wayne material is a dime a dozen around here. After a couple of stinker mixtapes, Weezy is setting up to drop The Drought is Over: Part Six (if he hasn’t done so already). I have a couple of tracks from the mixtape.
The first song, “Hot Revolver,” features a heavily tagged, Green Day / 808’s and Heartbreak -inspired Lil Wayne. I’m sure many of you will find this combination extremely interesting and exciting. I did.Â
The other song, “Best Thing,” doesn’t really cover any new ground. Pitched-up soul loop and hard-hitting beats and lyrics are all included, of course. Â But that’s exactly what some vocoder-annoyed Weezy fans are begging for.Â

Unfortunately I don’t think anyone will find a version without the retarded DJ. I’ve been looking for months for Hot Revolver without the DJ and I have yet to find one. I think we’ll all just have to wait patiently like good little boys and girls until he drops the mixtape.

Do I have a dime to listen to Lil’ Wayne whine? Through a vocodor? No, I don’t. I can find his shit for free, and I still feel ripped off. Just like Kanye probably does. You want innovative hip-hop? Check out Aesop Rock, or Murs, or Busdriver, or any of a number of underground artists making actual creative music. All this guy is doing is putting out hip-pop drivel.
