M.I.A. is lending a bit of her time and talent to some Bollywood movie called Slumdog Millionaire. Aside from lending the fantastic remix DFA made of “Paper Planes,” M.I.A. contributed “O… Saya” a new, original song.
While M.I.A. doesn’t actually got on the track until about halfway, the song sounds pretty great. If you thought Kanye had his tribal drums down, you should seriously check this out. The only thing I didn’t like was the limited M.I.A. on the track. An extended version of this track would be awesome.
Listen to “O… Saya” and that “Paper Planes” remix after the jump!

good-lookin
the movie is phenomenal, i highly recommend it.
great soundtrack all the way through, too. most of the tracks are produced by A.R. Rahman, who M.I.A. called “The Indian Timbaland”.
definitely worth a listen if you dig world music. another track here if you like this MIA cut: http://www.thestureidexperiment.com/2008/12/slumdog-excellence.html
O… Saya is an awesome track, I agree, wish it could’ve been longer.
A.R. rahman and M.I.A. on the same track..wow they should do a whole album together
Uh, Bollywood? Come on, man.
That was one of the most awkward remixes I’ve ever heard.
Yeah, Slumdog Millionaire is so not a Bollywood movie. It was directed by the dude who did Trainspotting.
“Some Bollywood movie?” Do some research. This film should win the oscar for best picture… and not “best foreign film.” This post really made you sound like a 14 yr old teenie bopper girl.
A.R. Rahman wrote a Bollywood musical. He is pretty much amazing by himself.
I agree with Chris. A lot of the soundtrack is phenomenal!! Makes me really want to explore more Indian music. “Ringa Ringa” and “Jai Ho” are my favorites alongside “O…Saya.”
Oh, and the movie is really good!!! :]
that track is pretty much amazing
“Some Bollywood movie”????
I love PMA, but you lose credential for not knowing the true premise of that magnificent Danny Boyle movie!
M.I.A has very little to do with this song my dear friends, this is a song by a r rahman and is nominated for music(song) along with his another track “jaiho”……..check the oscar website for more info, cheers……….
Check out AR Rahman’s other bollywood works. You would love it. He truly deserves the title of “The Mozart of Chennai”. He just needs some global recognition.
And as we speak that “Bollywood movie” is picking up its fourth Academy Award of the night. Great post. Really.
