 ”Shells (Slow)” is the first non-remix bonus track to leak from M.I.A.’s Kala Extended Edition — and quite frankly, It’s a huge letdown. If this song appeared on on Kala’s original run, I would have hated it. It sounds too amateurish and demoish for my taste. I’m not a huge fan of the over-produced studio work, but I like my songs to at least sound like they were made on something more delicate than Garage Band.Â
I would like to think this isn’t a final product, but apparently, the track appears on the iTunes-only How Many Votes Fix Mix EP. Who knows, maybe the preggers Maya will change it for Kala 2.0

I think this is pretty good. Not mind blowing, but on par for M.I.A. Maybe I heard a different version than you, but I didn’t think it sounded too amateurish. Maybe simple, but nothing like the pre-mastered Kanye leaks.
