New Rihanna – Vogue (Madonna Cover)

It’s has been one huge fashion frenzy this week here in New York. I can’t imagine why… whatever. What I’m more interested in is this fantastic live rip of Rihanna performing her rendition of Madonna’s underground New York City gay club scene inspired “Vogue.” Rih Rih performed this little number at last Friday’s Fashion Rocks 5 (CBS aired Condé Nast Media Group’s 2-hour Fashion Rocks Special at Radio City Music Hall last night).

Beyonce, Black Eyed Peas, Chris Brown, Duffy, Fergie, Justin Timberlake, Keith Urban, Kid Rock, Lil Wayne, and Mariah Carey joined Rihanna on stage to perform in honor of Condé Nast Media Group’s Fifth Anniversary of Fashion Rocks celebration.

   OK, maybe I’m spoiled forever after seeing Madonna’s actual performance of Vogue, but it was such a pale comparison. It is SO obvious that Rihanna is not a dancer. Madonna started out dancing.

   As far as the singing, yeah it kinda annoyed me; her voice is irritating, but I got over it- Madonna’s greatest ability isn’t her singing after all. But the difference between Rihanna’s “dancing” and Madonna- whew! Rihanna didn’t even dance, and she’s not good at it.

   I’m partial to dancers as it is(Madonna, Britney), so a standing-around or poor-dancing performance (Rihanna, Christina) is definitely going to be boring in contrast. Nice shot; maybe if there hadn’t been an original to contrast with, it would have been better.
