The Killers’ “Human” was premiered on Radio 1 yesterday, so naturally, the MP3 is all over the place. “Human” is the first single off their third-album (not counting Sawdust, of course) Day and Age. It sounds as though our favorite Las Vegas boys actually listened to the critics that, so mercilessly, ripped Sam’s Town apart. This was, indeed, probably the best move for the Killers. Here is one critic the Killers should definitely listen to: “Human“is a slowly building slice of sweet synthpop, complete with big fake-string build right before the final chorus, and Brandon Flowers harnessing his weak voice in such a way that he sounds even more vulnerable. I have little doubt that “Human” will score a love scene on Gossip GIrl by the end of the month.”
Amen.

Sam’s Town is ace. this new song sucks so badly.
Sam’s Town is ace. this song sucks so much
sorry for the double posts. my internet was being a bitch.
I have little doubt that “Human†will score a love scene on Gossip GIrl by the end of the month.â€
lol.
Great song, nothing wrong with sams town though. The killers are one of the few bands where i like every single song theyve ever done.
This here new killers’ single “Human” sounds like new order meets bruce springsteen, and spliced w/ a bit of bowie style lyricism.
“Are we human or are we Dancer?”
On a side note Sam’s Town is a great album, Flowers claims it be one of the greatest records of the last twenty years, while critics claimed it to be a poor album knocking off bruce springsteens born to run. i say born to run is one of the greatest albums of its time, and sam’s town is as to these last twenty years.
Honestly, I thought Sam’s Town was amazing. This new tune sounds too much like they’re trying to write another Mr. Brightside.

Flowers said that this song would please Mr. Brightside’s fans.
Stuart Price has done a great job.
Sam’s Town was a great album. I hope they didn’t listen to the critics.
Human is okay but it sounds exactly like the Mr. Brightside remix from Sawdust, which was also produced by Stuart Price.
This song does not suck – it is great! They are back to a little bit of Hot Fuss sound with the music there. I love Sam’s Town as well and it will ultimately go down as a Classic. A very solid album through and through. Hf & ST are distinctly different sounds/vibes – I embrace them both and delight in their multiple talents. This will please fans who were disappointed by ST..and now the ST loyal will say what happened. Feel the love people, it’s all good, it’s great music, period!
Sam’s Town wasn’t even in the top 50 of its year, much less the last 20 years… it wasn’t bad, just very very mediocre. Hot Fuss was a very solid album, but they aren’t anything like they were on Hot Fuss anymore. This song sucks.
You want good synth-based pop? Of Montreal. Good Springsteen-esque rock? Titus Andronicus.
You’re welcome.
Sorry, but this song sounds nothing like Mr. Brightside. I love it though! Good work that I think is in a new direction for the band. Love the lyrics.
Love the new killers song human. Love the live recordings of spaceman and neon tiger so the new album looks very promising.
human is awesome..
it is full of vulnerability and joy, its sweet but real, I mean, its The Killers! come on!!
the beauty of this song is it’s simplicity…it’s reflective and rhetorical. most bands do not have the ability to compose a song that is simultaneously powerful and simple.
oF MONTREAL and titus andronicus blow, and probably everything else your listening to. surprisingly enough the killers ive always liked, and sams town is their best effort thus far and will probably stay that way. sams town can only arguably be one of the best records of the last twaenty yrs. one of the best of 2006, for sure.
Love the new single. Over the last few years The Killers have not been shy on their musical influences and this is very much from the early Pet Shop Boys days.
I have heard Neon Tiger and Spaceman I believe The Killers are going to release their best album yet at the end of November.
it’s gone
i’m sad
i want my opportunity to add some bitter commentary
I like this song…i also heard a new mixtape from a artist called Grey that was a mash-up of Killers songs…it was REALLY good.

Sounds too much like a remix of a song rather than a song itself…
The Killers should have gone electro-shoegaze, like “Sweet Talk” from Sawdust. This song is waaaay too electro and not enough rock. They’ve still got their solid songwriting skills but bringing in Price as a producer might have ruined their sound. I’m crossing my fingers for more guitars on the rest of the album.
Oh, and “Kevin” up there sounds like a pretentious PitchDork, who only likes bands that a maximum of 5 people have heard.
God Pitchfork is so up its own elitist ass. “Best I can figure, the people I know who take these Las Vegas rockers at least halfway-seriously generally expose themselves to more non-blog media than I do, so they’ve probably got hits like “When You Were Young” or “Mr. Brightside” imprinted in their subconsciousnesses alongside pleasant memories of watching “The O.C.” or playing “Guitar Hero”.”
Oh yes because you are SO above it all Marc “Hulk” Hogan. And yeah most people don’t need to read blogs to be told what to like, nor do they need the approval and validation of the so-called indie cognoscenti to listen to something.
Good tune.. Sounds like Pet Shop Boys/New Order..
What was wrong with Sam’s Town? I thought it was a brilliant album.
This Is terrible!! ‘Are we human, or are we dancer?’ What the hell does this frickin’ mean?
Hot Fuss meant something musically but Sam’s Town just didn’t match it and Sawdust was exactly that – a byproduct – songs that were never considered good enough for anything much.
I so want the Killers to do it – but this sucks hard!
He’s not saying “Are we human or are we DANCER” he’s actually saying “Are we human or are we DENSER” – it’s just pronounced in a strange way (to rhyme with ‘answer’)
