Today’s finds continue to show our favorite bands covering our favorite oldies!
Earlier: The Killers covered Cindy Lauper!
Last time we heard Vampire Weekend covering a song overseas, they tackled Fleetwood Mac’s “Everywhere” — earlier this week in Paris, our Ivy League punks took a stab at “Ça Plane Pour Moi,” made famous by the Belgian new wave rock god Plastic Bertrand.Â
As I’m preparing my “Best of 2008” year-end lists, Vampire Weekend are powerful contenders for my Best Albums, Songs, and Covers of 2008 lists. These guys don’t cease to amaze me — and I’ve seen them live 3 times in 2008! Not many acts deserve the amount of hype they get. I say Vampire Weekend deserves even more.Â
Download Vampire Weekend’s interpretation of “Ça Plane Pour Moi” along with a bonus, below!
Vampire Weekend – Ça Plane Pour Moi (Plastic Bertrand Cover)
Vampire Weekend – Everywhere (Fleetwood Mac Cover)
A BIG thank you to Will, whom I want to shout for. That sounded better in my head.

i agree with everything in this post. i absolutely fail to get tired of them, and i tend to be so flippant about bands.
I also WHOLEHEARTEDLY AGREE!
VW covering a French song? sounds like a recipe for success. I love it when my favourite American bands do that. hello lovely Beirut cover of Le Moribond!
This is PERFECT!
Aw, I wish i was there! so good.
Fucking awesome cover! Vampire Weekend are perfection.
Best Cover of the Year
I love this song and this cover “déchire grave” !
It’s “Cyndi Lauper” not “Cindy Lauper”. . .
