We’re lucky to live a world where indie pop mad scientists of Montreal have been quietly releasing a solid collection of songs every year or so in recent history. Case in point: less than two years after their latest record False Priest, Kevin Barnes and his prolific outfit plan on dropping a new album called Paralytic Stalks early in 2012.
The epic “Wintered Debts” is Barnes and co.’s first offering from the record, and the seven-plus minute track with its compiled disparate parts reads like an overture that amalgamates the sounds of whole record. Spiraling from emotive, dark instrumental passages to burlesque, circus-like funk, you’ll find yourself completely under the band’s spell.
