Everyone loves it when their favorite artists cover their favorite artists, so you can probably understand our being super excited about our favorite Brooklyn-via-Denmark electro-songstress covering our favorite Brooklyn-via-Ohio album-of-the-year-delivering rockers. In other words, Oh Land covered the National’s “Bloodbuzz Ohio”! And it’s so great!

Oh Land can’t reproduce Matt Berninger’s baritone nor his band’s masterful postpunk instrumentals (that’d likely be physically impossible), but she more than does the song justice with the materials at her disposal – her supple, sweet, simple croon floats beautifully over a complex soundscape of intertwining electronic and vocal layers. It’s an inventive new take on the song that’s just as repeat-listenable.

Charlotte Aitchison’s second LP is a warhead, a sonic sour bomb that conceals sneering attitude and caustic kiss-offs beneath an initially shimmering pop sheen.
