The Chemical Brothers – “Swoon”

Parlophone, the YouTube friendliest major label I’ve ever come across, has posted another new tune from the Chemical Brothers‘ new album, Further. After “Escape Velocity“, comes “Swoon”, whose colorful, “My Girls”-esque music video mirror’s the song’s pizazz and clout. (Read more to LISTEN/WATCH)

RECOMMENDED MP3: Villagers – “Becoming A Jackal”

Erudite, poetic lyrics, gentle finger-plucked guitar, quick drums, the gradual growth of echo, reverb, depth, power, a harsh and undeniable reality: “I was a dreamer staring out windows / because that’s where the dream goes.” “Becoming a Jackal” is a very restrained song about losing yourself, a straightforward pop-folk tune about turning into something else. It’s a powerful song, and flawlessly crafted. Download MP3 Here. (Read more…)

Chiddy Bang – “Pass Out”

On their new video for “Pass Out”, from their Air Swell Mixtape, Chiddy Bang project themselves onto anything that will hold them (i.e. huge storage trucks, poles, sides of buildings). I’m sure every DIY rapper out there is kicking himself for not thinking about this one first. (Read more to LISTEN/WATCH)

Wolf Parade – “Ghost Pressure” and “What Did My Lover Say”

Wolf Parade’s seven years as a group have been seven years defining and perfecting a sound, a unique and stunning sound that doesn’t steal from the universe of Quebecois bands (of which they make up a vital part), but rather gives it a sharp, rapidly expanding edge. With the two teaser tracks leading into the band’s third full-length album, Expo 86, due for release June 29, Wolf Parade have taken the strange, volatile energy we love them for and channeled it into songs that are denser, fuller, and more mature. Download an MP3 here. (Read more to DOWNLOAD both songs)

Ratatat – “Party With Children”

Earlier today, Ratatat premiered another new song from their aurally gratifying new album, LP4. This time, the electro-rock whiz kids show us how to “Party With Children,” which almost feels like the most epic Spanish rock-ballad you’ve ever heard, without any lyrics, of course.
