amazing release…. for me it could easyly fit in any “…of the year”…
yeah.. they are not a ground-breaking band.. they’ve never been.. buat as many of the people here said they have something special to their sound, something that sound “effortless” (but never bad!), they just have that ability to release master-piece after master-piece and this album is surely no exeption..
for me the best song gotta be “rome” i think it appears in the perfect moment of the album..
btw, “love like sunset” is a re-make of “twenty-one one-zero” a song they released for a “Cartier Love” thing.. you should try to find it

Yeah Pariah, I thought that may have happened when this published. Because I wasn’t sure, I labeled them as listed on the early release. When the album hits, I’m going to re-label the names correctly (especially since “Lasso” was my favorite song… and I called it “Love Like a Sunset” in this review).

great review and i agree with you but you should be warned, the album tracks are scrambled on the early release. girlfriend and rome and 3 others [lasso, armistice and love like a sunset]were among them. so just make sure to listen to all the songs’ lyrics and rename [the song lyrics pretty much give away the titles] wait for the album. happy listening.

This is a verrrry good review !!! it’s as you say, it’s not really breath-takingly new, the songs could indeed somehow fit on it’s never been like that, but Phoenix just got something i can’t describe, they will never sound brainless or uninspired, they’ve always got this cheerful clever sound to them that’ll brighten my day anytime. And i must say that you can hear they’ve grown as a band and as persons. This album is going to be my summer album, FOR SURE !! loveloveloves it

Great review – I can’t get enough of this album. Favorite song from the album honors go to ‘Lasso’ (subject to change, daily), though ‘Love Like A Sunset’ has been getting a lot of spins lately too – beginning of that song is beautiful, I hope someone puts it in a movie sometime soon. This album is def going to make a great summer soundtrack.
