Timid Tiger first came to my attention when they entered my “Womanizer” Cover Challenge. Their inspired cover of “Womanizer” led me to the treasures that Timid Tiger were hiding in Germany. I exchanged emails with the band for a few weeks and we came to the agreement that Pretty Much Amazing would premiere and distribute their EP titled, THE PMA.EP. The extended player includes four original Timid Tiger tracks, a cover, an original Timid Tiger remix, as well as two remixes by a couple of PMA’s DJ friends. Here are the cover & tracklist:

.LINER NOTES/
PMA: How did you guys meet and why did you decide to make music together?
TT: We started the band in high school. In 2005 we signed a contract to the biggest independent-label in Germany (L’age d’or). We were about 19 at that time. Our label got broke in 2007 and our former bass player and drummer left the band. In 2008 we finally found two new members to complete Timid Tiger. We developed our sound and vision of the band and built our own recording studio (The Electric Island) where we are producing our music since then.

PMA: What does Timid Tiger have to offer to the already massive musical community?
TT: We are writing songs, doing Remixes and Mash-Ups. We are playing live on stage as a band, or in the club as a DJ-team using a bunch of live-instruments. So we think we have a lot to offer…

PMA: What inspired that unique Timid Tiger sound?
TT: The greatest hits of the 50′s/60′s/70′s/80′s and contemporary Hip-Hop/Electronicas. We love remixes and mash-ups. There are no rules to our music. We are mixing genres and switching styles like we want to. We love electronic beats as well as energetic live drums. So we mix it, we love all the analog synths from the 70′s & 80′s so lets put it right there. And what about a smooth 70′s Bass line or a 60′s rock n roll guitar on top. We dig it. We really try to ignore all the boundaries in music.

PMA: What does the future have in store for Timid Tiger?
TT: We are still looking for a good label that is suitable. Right now we are working on our live-concept. We would really like to play all around the world so if you want some action on your party/concert or festival…go for Timid Tiger!

PMA: What are you plans as far as new music beyond “The PMA.EP”
TT: We finished the recordings and the mixing of our new album “Timid Tiger & The Electric Island” in february. We recorded 15 songs that should be released in august/september. And we wrote about 30 new Songs during the recording sessions so we’ve got a lot of material we are currently working on. We are also planning some new Mash-Up/Remixes in the near future…keep an eye on that one.

PMA: Do you see a “PMA.EP 2″ in the future?
TT: Of course. We love Pretty Much Amazing. It’s the greatest blog on earth and we would be proud to continue our work with you guys. Thank you for your support.

JACK: Are you taking requests for the Cover & Remix for The PMA.EP 2?
TT: Sure!
