J.Brookinz

You can go a million different directions with this song. J.Brookinz went the dark route as opposed to the lighter sound of the other remixes. The good news is that his is just as impressive.

Listen to This Track

Lynas

Within seconds you know Lynas means business with this remix. You might have to listen to this remix twice to catch everything in it. You might just because you like it.

Listen to This Track

BEFS

Who knew someone would turn “Music” into a smooth vintage-ish record about “girls licking lips.” BEFS goes for it and executes with this unique remix.

Listen to This Track

Jams Dean

Minimalism is the name of the game with this remix. Jams Dean borrows a riff from the original song and adds his own catchy sounds complete with equally catchy repetition. Well done.

Listen to This Track

S-Tone

This remix is made for the dance floor, turning “Music” into a full blown techno song. Hey, that’s what they were looking for. Good stuff here.

J.Brookinz’ remix is a bit too simple in my opinion, it’s not bad but it doesn’t add anything: 6/10

Lynas’ remix starts of pretty good, playful and inventive. Doesn’t keep up this quality for the entire track but I think this remix is not bad overall: 7/10

BEFS’ remix is definitely original and it gets away with it too. Nice remix, in this case I think originality is a win: 7/10

Jams Dean’s remix is great, the most dancable one so far in my opinion and if I recall correctly that’s what we’re looking for: 7,5/10

S-Tone’s remix starts up pretty slow but it feels like it’s anticipating for a climax and then brings in a sort of tension which improves the track. It never really comes to the climax you expect (or at least that I expect) but it does build up to some sort of a climax. I feel like this remix did not reach it’s full potential but still it’s the best one: 8/10

That’s not fucking fair Why you guys take just 5 tracks ? nevermind, always this shit everywhere

Reply

Lynas is my hero.

Reply

Luis Tovar March 5, 2009 at 2:22 pm

Atapy, they didn’t just take 5 tracks, they picked their 5 favorites from all of the tracks. They couldn’t decide which of the 5 they liked best, so they’re having the readers choose.

They listened to every submission before they made their decision, so don’t worry, any and all submissions were considered.

I`m torn between James Dean and Lynas. My remix didn`t sound very pro or anything but it had tigersapian and I think its pretty good, check it out here:

PMA should do more remix contests. It’s a really cool way for the fans to get involved. Check out my TContheRadio remix at TContheRadio.blogspot.com! Personally I think S-Tone’s was the best.

pulling for Jams Dean and not just because we both guest blog @ http://creamteam.tv/ but because it’s the hottest one…i had no idea he was entering either

I’m lovin the original techno feel of S-tones. BEFs is alright too, but overall creativity wise and originality, plus just how it sounds S-tones is on top.

Reply

Luis Tovar March 5, 2009 at 5:32 pm

I think I am going to do more of these in the future.. officially and unofficially. :)

BEFS March 5, 2009 at 6:09 pm

Cool!

The way S-Tones remix builds to the chorus is quite stimulating, I also like how it incorperates the whole song it gives great justice to the artists. I also like Lynas’s background synthesizer sounds. But S-Tone is the clear winner!

J. Brookinz murks this joint! It’d be an awesome mixtape/set opener or closer. Its not peaktime and that’s why it excels. “Simple” it is not.

Is Hypemachine not working? Because I can’t play any of the songs. Why can’t pretty much amazing just use soundcloud or something. Jesus make up your mind on a playback program and stick with it. I never know what to expect when I click on any link here.

Oh shit. J.Brookinz killed that. His remix of Asher Roths “The Reading” was bananas too! Dude puts in work.

solid effort by everyone. PMA – def keep these contests going, i can see a nice community of DJ/producer/remix-lovers building and a whole lot of awesome remixes coming out of this kinda stuff in the future

Hype Machine was down, but now its up.. so don’t worry Jackson.

But I do think Luis should decide on something soon… SoundCloud was cool, but he posted a comment saying that it costs like $75/month! That’s pretty pricey. HypeM is free, but there’s no embedding.. hmm.

Lovin The S-Tone one!
There all decent but i gotta say S-Tone FTW cos this adds a new dimension to the song, reminds me of DISCOTECH in a way, i Dunno what you think but this is more accessible than many remixes also…

Lukeisaac March 9, 2009 at 4:08 pm

Will these all be available to d/l Luis?

Quite like to get S-Tone so it would be cool if you could put MP3′s up bro

Hmmm… not really sure about the group- kinda odd, where do they fit in today’s music??? (and I’m adding it all into account not just radio even the record in my closet and upload it to myspacers)

But the producers did there thing with this one! S-tones is nice but I have to go with J. Brookinz I heard that song he made for Asher Roth a while back so I got excited when I heard he had a new remix out! disappointed by the group but I like the way J. Brookinz built up the beat- he made it seem like something was going to happen so I kept listening through the not so interesting lyrics.
