pmaCAST #1: The “No-Track Skipping Zone” Episode

I’m feeling pretty good about this whole podcast thing. I really am. I can see this being a semi-monthly thing. Keep your eyes peeled for more info.

The basic premise of the is this: I pick 10-15 songs. New or not-so-new, maybe even an oldie here and there. This selection of songs is to be the Soundtrack of your week. Is that asking too much? We’ll see how this goes…

For the first pmaCAST, I opened up with 2008′s best album opener: ’s “Closer.” This song is so ridiculously great that the rest of Only By The Night pales in comparison. I don’t know if that was KOL’s intention with “Closer,” but I sure wanted to open this podcast with a bang. As “Closer” finishes up, I slow things down with ’s new single “Rain on Your Parade.” Her new album sounds like it’s going to be another killer. I switch things up next with and “DLZ,” the best song off what may be the best album of 2008, Dear Science,. To calm you down from your TV on the Radio high, is a criminally underrated track from ’s Narrow Stairs called “Grapevine Fires.”

I was never one for being subtle, so following Death Cab is 2008 breakouts with “Where Do You Run To” and a wicked Mad Decent remix of “Id Engager” () — its a banger. I know I use that word loosely, but I’m actually very serious about that bangerity of this remix. The last four songs on this pmaCAST are some of 2008′s most beloved songs. Hopefully the pmaCASTs will be a No-Track-Skipping Zone.

Great selection of songs. Three of my favourite bands made it on there(Bloc Party, Kings of Leon, and TV on The Radio) A few of the other ones on there are nice too. That’s ace. Keep it coming.
