pmaCAST #2: The “F*ck Me, I’m Really Saying This…” Episode

Click on the turntable on the left to listen to a continuous stream of music featured on Pretty Much Amazing - updated every day. For more, you can check out the Best Songs of 2012.

I know I said I was feeling good about this whole podcasting thing before, but after seeing everyone’s reaction, I am really feeling good about it now. Big shout out to everyone who downloaded and subscribed to the podcast. I really want to make it a constant feature.

I also want to thank everyone who left enthusiastic comments of encouragement. I also want to thank Amy who said this:

“…but its really just a mixtape isnt it. i would love to hear you talk a little bit about the tracks on the podcast rather than describe them in text so i actually know which song im listening to!”

I guess it is more like a mixtape. I opted to “talk” about my selections in text because I originally envisioned the pmaCAST being played in your car, iPod, party, computer, or while you sleep, etc. I meant it when when I wanted each episode to soundtrack your week. I don’t need an audio version of my blog running around on iTunes. But thank you for your input and I hope you and everyone else with similar concerns will be okay with the radio station-esque approach.

For the second pmaCAST, I started things off with Gnarl Barkley’s “Who’s Gonna Save My Soul.” It’s the simplicity of the song that makes it beautiful. Cee-Lo’s lulling voice over a near-perfect Danger Mouse bassline is wonderfully sobering and drags us out of the holly jolly spirit and back to our lives’ realities. And it sets the tone for the rest of the episode perfectly.

To be honest, I never intended for this installment to be so depressing and *fuck me, I’m really saying this* emo. One song just lead to another. #2 does have it’s random slices of fun that somehow, in my head, made sense to include. Think of it as an intermission to the somber, brooding music show.

Before I start whoring the download/subscribe links in your faces, I want to take some time out to brag. I know, I know, I’m always bragging. But seriously, this time it’s really cool. For some reason, this morning I decided to look at the Top 100 Music Podcasts on iTunes, and I was completely caught off guard to see the pmaCAST at #26. This totally made my day! It makes it extra cool that the pmaCAST is ahead of awesome podcasts like Diplo’s Mad Decent Radio Podcast, KROQ’s Kevin & Bean Show Podcast, and Beatport’s Podcast. Alright so enough writing for me, catch this second installment of the pmaCAST below (after the tracklisting) and make sure to subscribe on iTunes, it’s the easiest way to get this baby onto your iPod! And while you’re at it, why don’t you leave a nice review? :)

” I never intended for this installment to be so depressing and *fuck me, I’m really saying this* emo”

you’re always making me laugh… listening to your random, quirky thoughts would be cool, but reading them is just as good… and I understand what you’re trying to do.
