pmaCAST #9: I’m An Alien From Outer Space

Click on the turntable on the left to listen to a continuous stream of music featured on Pretty Much Amazing - updated every day. For more, you can check out the Best Songs of 2011, or our Best Albums of 2011.

Kicking off the 9th episode is “Heads Will Roll” by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. It’s only fitting to start things off with the YYYs because I am having the hardest time keeping It’s Blitz! off repeat. And to celebrate Franz Ferdinand’s new music video and their new iPod Touch ad, “No You Girls” continue’s the string of indie danceyness “Heads Will Roll” built up. I’m just barely getting around to liking this song, so I sort of went out on a limb by putting it on here, but it’s hard to deny how fun it is.

I continued the dance-y indie rock vibe with the next three songs, “Lisztomania,” “Paris,” and “Come Back Lover.” I take a turn into some funky music with Timid Tiger’s “Palm Beach Bar” and Ciara and Justin Timberlake’s duet “Love & Sex & Magic” and then push for the funky pop queen with a Janelle Monae twofer: “Violet Stars Happy Hunting!!!” and “Many Moons.”

I close the podcast with some of my favorite songs by my favorite breakouts of 2008, the Ting Tings, Little Boots, and the Black Kids.
