Pretty Much Amazings Best Remixes of 2008 remixes music mp3 feature

Here’s the next installment of Pretty Much Amazing’s year-end list extravaganza. All of these remixes are top quality, hot-as-f**k, bad ass mixes that deserve to be heard again and again — even if they were whored by the Hype Machine enough. I wanted to get this list up before NYE so you can get your freak on proper. Don’t forget to leave your favorite remixes of 2008 in the comments!

Without further adieu, the best remixes of 2008 (in no particular order).

Kid Sister & Kanye West – Pro Nails (Simian Mobile Disco Remix)

I was surprised at how underplayed and undermined this remix went. Simian Mobile Disco kill this one.

M.I.A. – Paper Planes (Remix for the Children by Adrock)

I’m pretty sure a “Paper Planes” remix mention was obligatory, but give me props for not posting the DFA remix. It’s good sure, but this one is so much better.

Lil Wayne – A Milli (Flying Lotus Robo Tussin Remix)

Flying Lotus completely reimagines Bangladesh’s “A Milli” beat and transforms it into a chill fantasy.

Kanye West – Love Lockdown (1994 PILOTPRIEST Remix)

Listen to this! It’s a beast. Bangers are making a comeback.

Hercules & Love Affair – Blind (Frankie Knuckles Remix)

This is the only Blind remix that has topped the original. “Blind” is so damn fantastic that improving it is a huge feat.

MGMT – Electric Feel (Justice Remix)

I know having back-to-back(to-back) MGMT remixes is kind of annoying, but MGMT had a good year. When Justice, Soulwax, and the Pet Shop Boys (as well as dozens of other DJs) want to remix your stuff, you know you’ve made it.

MGMT – Kids (Soulwax ‘Nite Version’ Remix) / (Pet Shop Boys Synthpop Remix)

These two remixes are tied, only because I didn’t want two remixes of “Kids” on separate spots on this list. I still think that the Pet Shop Boys’ remix puts Soulwax’s remix to shame, but Soulwax’s remix is still too good to not be mentioned.

Cut Copy – Lights And Music (Boys Noize Happy Birthday Remix)

Off the record: this is probably my favorite remix of 2008.

Kaiser Chiefs – Never Miss A Beat (Cut Copy Remix)

The Kaiser Chief’s have been absent from my year-end coverage so far (and this is probably their only appearance), I have my reasons for that… but Cut Copy’s remix of their very likable “Never Miss A Beat” is infectious.

Black Kids & Lil Wayne – Not Gonna Teach Your Boyfriend How To Dance (The Twelves Kickmix)

Remember a while back when I said Boys Noize’s remix of “Lights and Music” was my favorite of 2008? Yeah, I completely forgot about this remix.

What about “The Killers – The Human (Ocelot Remix – Alternative Live Edit)” that remix was so much better than the original version of the song.

Really nice list – haven’t heard of that Love Lockdown remix, downloading now!

I would definitely include the Discotech remix of “Whatever You Like” though, even if it was overplayed on hypem.com!

The Electric Feel Justice Remix is definitely top notch, I couldn’t ask for a better combo of MGMT & Justice. Downloading the Kanye remix as well right now, I hadn’t heard it but I’m excited to.
