Psychobuildings is one of those bands whose name just fits – it’s cold, imposing psychedelica, like walking down Wall Street in some sci-fi nightmare. “Portrait” feels like someone watching you. Licks of scuzzy guitar barely discernible from behind a thick electronic curtain – you can almost see the ones and zeroes – provide a frighteningly human element. “We are the portraits from the back” – those creepy ones in the corners of museums no one ever goes to, with the eyes that seem to follow you, maybe. “No Man’s Land” is like paranoid club music, green lasers from a DJ booth, people looking at you like something’s wrong with your face. But that fluid, new-wavey bassline is undeniable. Listen to and download them both below
