We put up Shabazz Palaces’ “Swerve… The Reeping of All That Is Worthwhile (Noir Not Withstanding)” on yesterday’s Daily 5, but I wanted to repost it up on its own, because it’s so good it should be on here twice. Make sure to check out Shabazz’s Black Up LP, out June 28 on Sub Pop — the label’s first venture into hip hop.
We’ve had Black Up on repeat for a few weeks now and it’s hands down the most interesting rap record released this year. It’s creepy, funky, compelling and houses the ominous presence of dubstep found in London’s darkest clubs.
