Rogue Wave – Maps (Yeah Yeah Yeahs Cover)

Rogue Wave did an incredible job of covering the Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ breakthrough hit “Maps” for the Valentine’s Day-themed compilation, Sweetheart. I keep pushing this compilation, but it’s almost V-Day! So it’s now or never. I think of the songs I have let you in on so far, Rogue Wave’s cover of “Maps” is one of my favorites. They completely made the song their own. Listen to “Maps”:

Thieves Like Us – Drugs In My Body

“Drugs In My Body” is my first taste of this Swedish-American trio based out of Paris (yeah, seriously). As far as I can tell, Thieves Like Us have crafted a charming aesthetic between pop and nu-rave in the same vain as Hot Chip, Van She, and Passion Pit. So if you’re a fan of any of those acts, I recommend a listen or two.

Thieves Like Us rules! The new Hot Chip for sure.

  3. No more downloading option? (jus askin)

  4. Rogue Wave definitely put together a great rendition of an already stellar track, very awesome. But the Thieves Like Us post is about 2 1/2 years late… Nonetheless, this song still kills. If you like the track, the Designer Drugs remix adds an absurd hard electronic crunch to the original.

PS – if you want to download the songs still (from HypeM): use Firefox, let the song fully load to 100%, then simply locate the song in your Firefox Cache (done easiest by organizing in descending order based on “modified date”), add .mp3 to the file name, and just pull it from the cache.
