In unexpected cover news, School of Seven Bells just released their take on Lil Wayne’s Carter IV single “How to Love,” and it’s great – Alejandra Deheza does wonders with Wayne’s vocals (in her voice, even the cheesiest lyrics about a lovelorn girl’s struggles sound like spiritual incantations), and that backbeat is worlds away from the original’s adult-contemporary acoustic guitar, what with pounding bass effortlessly underlying dream-pop piano and sweeping, hazy synth drones. It’s totally mesmerizing, and not just because of its unlikely source. Check it out.
