There’s something of a comedown afoot in the world of Mr Ford. ‘Clock’ is the kind of beautiful wordless electronica Metronomy were making while SMD were bashing on their keyboards, licking the plugs and bumming Henry The Hoover. A change of pace then, but while the likes of ‘Hustler’ slammed chests with Snap!, ‘Clock’ lulls us into a Teutonic fantasy, like early Human League gone Numanoid on us. With the menacing Knife-like synth rain falling in the background, this is possibly their finest tune yet. A slight delight, then, which has us wrapped in the electronic fingers of an orgasmatron.
