Ahmed Gallab, who plays drums in Yeasayer, also makes electronic- and worldbeat- informed indie rock solo as Sinkane, and he’s gearing up to release his next record Mars. “Jeeper Creeper” is off that record and it sounds like – well, if Yeasayer recruited Ali Farka Toure to layer skittering, bright guitar riffs over that post-apocalyptic electro soundscape they’re such expert purveyors of. It makes sense that Gallab would draw from some of the more compelling elements of his main project, but his work really shines when he departs from it – we can’t get enough of that guitar line.
