Skybox is the brain-child of four friends from Chicago, Tim Ellis and Christian Fields, Mike Holtz and Dan Ingenthron. Skybox, although new to me, released their debut album, Acro Iris in 2006. Fast forward 3 years and we have “In A Dream,” the first single off Skybox’s sophomore effort Morning After Cuts, street date 1/19.
The band describes “In A Dream” as singer Tim Ellis’ in peak songwriting form, careening from Bowie glam to Flaming Lips exuberance without bothering to apologize. You can download “In A Dream” for free below:

Having seen them live, I gotta say, Skybox is definitely a band to watch for in 2010! And yeah, this tune is really a great addition to your 2009 mix. I’m happy to call this band a hometown favorite, xoxo
i’m glad to see more talented indie backs coming out of chicago. if only our indie scene was good as our hip hop one, we would be set.
