Some Remixes on a Sunday #3

Some Remixes on a Sunday #3 mp3

Continuing this from two Sundays ago.

It’s crazy how many great mixes you can across in a single week. These 10 were my favorite finds of the week. Big thanks to Ohh! Crapp, Fancy Sounds, Sundtrak, HypeM, and probably the biggest shout out goes to the people who send me their mixes!

On the last “Some Remixes on a Sunday” post, I focused a lot on movies. Mostly the films that I wanted to see. Since then, I have seen Frost/Nixon, The Wrestler, The Reader, Defiance, and Happy-Go-Lucky. I’m still DYING to watch Rachel Getting Married. For some reason, something gets in the way of me watching it at the theater whenever I decide to go out and watch it. And the torrent is nowhere to be found, a little less than a month away from the Oscars. It’s driving me nuts! I’m a sucker for contemp dramas — yes, I’m really pissed at the way Revolutionary Road was royally dissed on the Oscar nominations — so if any of your have some sort of Rachel Getting Married hook-up, pass it along,  yeah?

I can’t really talk much, listening to this new Weezy track that’s sort of ridiculous. Weezy doing rock music is definitely not my cup of tea. More about it tomorrow. Till then, here are my favorite mixes of the week!

Sebastien Tellier – Kilometer (A-Trak Remix)

Chairlift – Evident Utensil (MGMT Remix)

White Lies – Farewell To The Fairground (Yuksek Remix)

Lily Allen – The Fear (Wideboys Prime Time Radio Edit)

Lady Sovereign – I Got You Dancing (Achilles & Guile Hipster or Homeless Remix)

Animal Collective – My Girls (Mexican with Guns remix)

Groove Armada – Drop The Tough (The Twelves B-Live Remix)

Empire Of The Sun – We Are The People (Shazam Remix)

The Cool Kids – 88 (Chewy Chocolate Cookies Remix)

Justice – Valentine (Plastic Fang Remix)

  1. Lame post by fake “KanYe”. I think most of us can agree, we enjoy this blog, and in most cases for more than the occasional song sample. I find a lot of slammin remixes and lots of new music on here that I’ve come to really enjoy. And I like the amount of music samples on here. I like hearing music a little more than reading about it thank you very much, and this is a good balance I think.

So, I might just be really tired, but if we’re going to be picky,
“Your ratio of posted music you to actual commentary is staggeringly low.”
Is there an extra ‘you’ in there?
And we talk of editors. I’m just saying if you’re going to point out a simple typo in a blog, you damn well better proofread your own stuff.
    Ok, enough with hate.

  3. Erin G.

why is my girls only 17 seconds longgg?

  4. Doug

I’m new here, but I think it’s great that for every negative comment, about 3 or 4 people come here to defend the blog!

I think that alone shows that it’s more than those “blogspot” blogs. And I definitely don’t agree with “werd.”

I do have one question though: is Get Weird Turn Pro your blog? What is it with people not putting their name up there when they insult another blog?

Crazy business… you people just like creating the friction, why don’t you just let things be? If one blog does it one way, and you do it another, then so be it. You have no right to tell someone they’re doing it wrong. Especially when their way seems to WORK. I’m not all that blog literate, but I know PMA is one of the bigger ones, and that’s probably why it’s been such a big target lately.

  5. Andrew

Some of the people that leave comments here are unbelievable. If they don’t like PMA so much, then why are they here? It’s so stupid.

  6. anon!

this blog is great as is. i like that you put up a lot of music. i usually know what i want and just go after that. sometimes i’ll give something else a listen, and if i do like it, then great, and if not, then i just delete it. i personally don’t need someone else telling me whether something is good so not going overkill with the commentary is likewise a plus.
    Don’t listen to the haters.

  7. he’s not ye but he’s right though. it;s fucks like you that give blogging a bad name.

  8. Jackson

That’s not Kanye. Probs just some troll. If it’s Kanye he should provide a link to an unreleased single to prove his identity. Ye

  9. Tyson

Yeah, I can’t believe two things:

    1. That pretentious cunt pretending to be KanYe
    2. How the fuck is RGM not available yet! That’s insane! I haven’t seen it yet, and I don’t think I will… but just about every other big oscar buzzed movie is out by now.

Great remixes this week. I need you to .zip them though! Haha, please?

  10. Ashlee

Ugh, are you kidding me? I was very mad that Leo DiCaprio didn’t get the best actor nomination! Or Kate Winslet’s nomination for The Reader instead of Rev Road.

Very angering… and what did you think of Bruce Springsteen’s absence in the Best Song category. They really didn’t need TWO “Slumdog” songs up there…

Also, this Kanye obviously doesn’t read this blog, like Josh said… if you know what’s going on, PMA is the best thing there is! Don’t listen to the jealous haters Luis!

Oh, and I’ll keep an eye out for Rachel Getting Married. It’s really fantastic, you need to watch it!

  11. Josh.

lol. words of wisdom from Kanye.

Yo KanYe. keep up with this, look at the first “Some Remixes on a Sunday” feature. (http://prettymuchamazing.com/mp3/some-remixes-on-a-sunday/)

This is what it says: “It’s Sunday and I’m sort of bummed. Bummed because I can’t go here [links to Palms Out] anymore and download wicked remixes every Sunday afternoon. I’m sure many people here feel the same way, so here’s to keeping the seat warm until Palm’s Out moves over to wordpress!”

PMA has nothing to prove to you as you obviously don’t read this blog, ever. This is the ONLY feature where he lists off 10 (and sometimes more) remixes he liked this week. So why don’t you just leave? Don’t leave a long, condescending message like that if you aren’t willing to put up your own name. And URL, as I’m sure this is another music blogger.

    Anyway, I’m done with that…
Luis, good remixes this week for sure. My fave was A-Trak remixing ST. Too hot for words. I love that dude!

And yeah, I’m with you on Rachel Getting Married… CANTFINDITANYWHERE! And I live in the midwest, so theaters don’t carry it here yet! Ugh. Patiently waiting for the DVD release in march!

  12. Chris

haha, KanYe, you make me laugh.

you know what else made me laugh? “Mexican With Guns.” Best. Name. Ever.

  13. Andi

Ouch! You need to watch Rachel Getting Married, luis! Make some time this week.. The torrent just isn’t popping up at all. :(

And why is “KanYe” dissing PMA? Would be cool if it was actually him.

  14. Sean

Surely that can’t really be Kanye, theres no capslock!?

  15. Luis, no offense, but your blog never ceases to amaze me (in a bad way).

First off, “Remix Sunday” is a Palms Out feature. I’m assuming you’re aware of it. It’s been around for years. I can’t figure out if your version, “Some Remixes on a Sunday,” is a tongue-in-cheek reference or if it’s genuinely oblivious. In either case, I would recommend changing the name or at least the day of the week. Otherwise, it looks idiotic to people who are up on Palms Out.

Secondly, you obviously have nothing to say. “I like these songs! They’re great! Btw, here’s a list of movies I like! Brb in five minutes to post three Weezy songs and my new favorite Kanye remix. Gotta keep that Hype Machine traffic up!”

Your ratio of posted music you to actual commentary is staggeringly low. You’re not much different from all those full album blogspots out there. Why do you feel the need to give away eighteen songs a day? Sure, it grants you an easy audience, but you’re developing a reputation for posting everything under the sun.. even things you don’t like.

Third, you need an editor: “It’s crazy how many great mixes you can across in a single week.”

Don’t get me wrong, your page layout and formatting look topnotch, but your content leaves a lot to be desired. I’m sure you get gobs of traffic on account of your Hype Machine glory or whatever, but I’m sure it’s mostly people dropping in for fifteen seconds or less to download a song. Then they’re off. -ye
