Im agree with some songs of some lists. I think the best songs of 2008 should be a mix of different genres. For me, this is my TOP 11 (still unsure of the order):
11 > “Nine In The Afternoon” – Panic! At The Disco
10 > “Use Somebody” – Kings Of Leon
09> “That’s What You Get” – Paramore
08> “Human” – The Killers
07> “4 Minutes” – Madonna Feat. Justin T.
06> “Womanizer” – Britney Spears
05> “If I Had Eyes” – Jack Johnson
04> “Love Song” – Sara Bareilles
03> “I Kissed A Girl” – Katy Perry
02> “Viva la Vida” – Coldplay
01> “Whatever You Like” – T.I
Another great songs:
12> “Nude” – Radiohead
13> “Say All I Need” – OneRepublic
14> “With You” – Chris Brown
15> “Love Lockdown” – Kanye West
16> “Take A Bow” – Rihanna
17> “Always Where I Need To Be” – The Kooks
18> “Lollipop” – Lil’ Wayne
19> “Pork And Beans” – Weezer
20> “Warwick Avenue” – Duffy
21> “If I Never See Your Face Again” – Maroon 5 Feat. Rihanna
22> “Paper Planes” – MIA
23> “If Only” – KT Tunstall
24> “Electric Feel” – MGMT
25> “Shake It” – Metro Station
I think both “Kids” and “Electric Feel” are better songs than Time to Pretend…but great having MGMT on the list somehow.
If you want a REALLY GREAT remix of “lollipop” look for the Nasty Ways remix. it also features the Kanye verse, and it is nearly-7 minutes of craziness.
Holy shit anonymous, the Nasty Ways Lollipop remix is sick indeed.
I like all the lists on here… there’s no way to claim “wrong” or “right” when it comes to taste. Songs that get popular become loved because they are heard repeatedly. To indie next-new-thing hunters, the best music is the most unexpectedly fresh. Hipsters like the PMA writers and several others on read love the mass-pop and indie-rock equally. It’s all good: music makes us feel good and that’s what brings us together.
