The Beets are one of our favorite fresh-grown (sorry!) Brooklyn lo-fi outfits, so we’re psyched about their fabulously titled upcoming LP Let the Poison Out (we’re also psyched about the fact that when you wikipedia search “the beets” it immediately directs you to the list of characters from the 90s TV show Doug, but that’s a story for another time). Mostly, though, we’re psyched about all the awesome sub-2-minute lo-fi anthems the band have been cranking out in advance of the record’s release – our latest sample is “Friends of Friends,” which clocks in at a blistering minute and a half of moshpit-ready anthemic punk rock in the vein of Harlem or No Age. Give it a listen or ten.

Let the Poison Out will be released on October 25th. You can still download other album track “Doing As I Do”.

Reviews

Kelis’ sixth and finest LP is not the gastronomic concept album suggested by its title. Food is instead a feast of sweaty funk grooves and impeccable soul melodies, consistently satisfying and often fabulous.
