The Fate Of Gimme More, Covers mp3

Adding to the Britney-Britney Extra-Extra madness going on — “Gimme More” has entered at No. 85 on Billboard’s Hot 100, leading to many “pop experts” to believe that it is a flop, and that her career is over. Low first week chartings is extremely common, especially when “Gimme” is relying solely on radio play; it still has a shot. Entertainment Weekly seems to agree:

But guess what? The debacle hasn’t deflated her new single’s momentum at all. One label exec calls ”Gimme More” ”a smash” and goes so far as to predict that her album — which is slated to bow opposite stiff competition including Céline Dion — ”will sell very well. I don’t think the performance is going to hurt her or the album.” At press time, ”More” remained one of the most requested songs at New York’s Z100, which premiered the tune on Aug. 30. ”People are still calling in, wanting to comment on the performance,” says program director Sharon Dastur. ”But then they say, ‘When’s the next time you guys are playing the song?”’

Reuters, on the other hand, begs to differ:

“Gimme” scored Most Increased Plays on the format during its first week out, racking up 1,062 spins. Day by day, the song climbed from 225 plays on CHR/top 40 on September 5 to 269 on September 7.

Then came Spears’ awkward and generally panned performance September 9 on the VMAs. The following day, “Gimme” got a jolt, jumping to 336 spins as talk of Spears’ VMAs showing made the water cooler rounds. But on September 11, “Gimme” took its first spill on radio, falling to 331 spins.

Although it is extremely early to take these numbers to the bank, a few have to wonder if the “Its Britney, Bitch” catchphrase has overstayed its welcome.

Britney needs to go away for a few months and make her “comeback” when she’s emotionally, mentally, and physically ready

Well I think people will measure Britney’s “comeback” with album sales, and Britney usually has amazing album sales. But its been about 4 years since we’ve last heard from her.

I hope she is a hit. She needs it for her self esteem.
