The Killers Four Winds (Bright Eyes Cover) stream music mp3 Everyone’s favorite band from Las Vegas is about to have a great spring. Not only are they headlining the desert sun music festival in California in less than three weeks, but they are also hitting up Chi-town, kicking asses and taking names @ Lollapalooza later this year. They are celebrating what will be a stellar festival season with a little EP in promotion to the terrifically unabashed alien-abducting second single off of their Day & Age (which we absolutely loved!), “Spaceman.”

The EP will include the song itself, along with a Close Captioned version of the track — I’m thinking a cross between “Spaceman” and the “Exitlude” from Sam’s Town. Thrown into the mix is Brandon Flowers’ ode to Conor Oberst and Bright Eyes’ biggest song ever, “Four Winds.”

The Killers stripped the foot stomping back beat and blue-grass violins from this alt-country epic and transformed it into something much more like their cover of Joy Divisions’ “Shadowplay.” I love the Killers to death, but so far, they aren’t doing so great as a cover band. Aside from Oberst’s gutwrenching vocals, it’s the instrumentation that makes “Four Winds” so great.

It’s a damn shame the Killers couldn’t match it with some of their wild “Spaceman”-drumming and take-your-pick-guitars to put some life into their gutsy rendition of “Four Winds.” Sadly, listen after listen, their version of “Four Winds” comes off a little flat.

Aw, I actually really like their version. Of course it’s not the same as Bright Eyes but that’s the point. I’ve listened to this cover a million times this weekend, it’s addicting as all hell.

^Yeah I realy like it too! I was sick today and so not at school and I listened to it basically all day! I’m generally not that big a fan of synth music but I love the opening synth on this! Very addictive:)

It probably helps that the Killers are my favourite band though:D

It wouldn’t be too crazy for me to say The Killers are one of my favorite bands.

I still don’t like it.

Lol, thanks for the love. And damn this IS nowhere near the original but give it some love. I think they did a good job, they totally transformed the track into something danceable. Keep those covers coming I’d say. I also dug the Shadowplay cover and the Girls Just Wanna Have Fun cover (even though it was in rubbish live quality).

It would have been a little more respectful if they had actually tried. This cover took them 30-minutes, tops. Snooze.

It was okay but… I’m not sold. Lacking something. Did see the Killers play on Saturday though, and I have to admit I’m a little in love with Brandon Flowers. Was an awesome gig, better than I expected. Cheers for the Bright Eyes original.

I’m not a big fan of the Killers but I have to say that the only reason I like them has been because of their covers. The covers sound extremely better than the original. And they’re covers, of course they have to put their sound in it. Bravo!

i disagree with the band not being great at doing covers. they actually did a great version of “romeo and juliet.” they’re getting there.

It’s not supposed to be “just a cover.” When the Killers cover a song they keep the integrity of the original, while spicing it up with their own blend of genius. Personally, I like the Killers version more. Fiiiiiiiires me up.
