The Notorious xx (Biggie x The xx): Free Mixtape

This mash-up mixtape has been circulating around the blogosphere for a few days now, charming it’s way into the hearts of hip-hop and post-punk dream-pop lovers alike. Mixed and spliced with skillful precision by Bay Area DJ Wait What, The Notorious xx started with the curiosity of hearing Biggie’s “Juicy” over The xx’s “VCR”. Since then, DJ Wait What blended words by the late Notorious B.I.G. onto The xx’s entire debut album, creating something original and inspired.

When I first heard about this I was stoked. But then I had a good listen through and it’s just not very good. over produced band + excellent lyricist = over produced band + excellent lyricist There’s just no soul to any of the tracks.
