Apropos of nothing, Seattle’s finest psychedelic hip-hop duo THEESatisfaction have released a free EP tribute to one of their favorites, neo-soul first lady Erykah Badu. It’s a short but so-sweet tape, just seven tracks featuring remixed samples and interpolations from Badu’s work, blended into something that sounds more like THEESatisfaction’s norm – intergalactic transmissions from a distant psych-funk galaxy. Our favorite is the instrumental “Effing Your Friends,” but if you want to hear Stasia Irons and Catherine Harris-White trade off verses over a Badu sample, check out “Game BLOUSES.” Download the EP here.
