Ezra is jumping on the auto-tune? Is this the Discovery influence coming to play? Is auto-tune the new trend in indie rock? These questions can wait, because you have to go listen and/watch Vampire Weekend perform a new track off their highly anticipated sophomore album Contra.
The track in question is “California Enlgish,” and I think I love it already. The energy Vampire Weekend perform it with is rejuvenating and refreshing. Within a couple of listens, you will be trying to sing along. Within 15 seconds, your toes will surely be tapping along to the fantastic beat. Listen to and download “California English” here:

or watch the live performance over at We All Want Someone To Shout For.
Watch an awesome clip of what might just be my favorite track off Contra, “White Sky”.

Great song. I’m so pumped for their album.
Most surprising new song up to now, and I love it. CONTRA for best album of 2010!
I can tell that this is going to be the best on the album. It’s the best new song I’ve heard so far.
Props for vocoder/autotune. Really sweet sounding.
Is this the song that’s going to back “Cousins”?
No. You’re thinking of “California English, part 2″ … which I think is going to be an instrumental or something like that.
My favorite of the live songs so far. I wish songs would leak instead of mid to low quality performances like these.
I have been refraining from watching these live videos – i want to get the full effect of these songs when I hear them full-blown CD quality off the hardcopy album… or else when they get released as singles… its gonna take lots of self-control for sure!
but hey, speaking of Vampire Weekend, doesn’t the digital of “Cousins” drop on tuesday???
Does it? I don’t even know what day it is…
*googles*
yup
“Pitchfork is reporting that “Cousins” will get a 7″ digital release on Nov. 17, and a 7″ vinyl release Dec. 15 with “California English Pt. 2″ as a B-side. The first part of that song, apparently, will be on the 36-minute-long album, due Jan. 12.”
LMAO
i found this too though when i was looking
