Okay. So Benjamin Button’s thirty-second spot scored by “My Body Is A Cage” from way back was chill-worthy to say the least, especially when the organs kicked in. But that was thirty seconds. This spot for Spike Jonzes’ upcoming, much-hyped adaptation of Where The Wild Things Are takes “Using Arcade Fire songs in a movie trailer” to the next level, giving us just about two minutes of “Wake Up” as we see images of an imagination run wild. Wow, I guess “Wake Up” is the best youth rebellion song since…”Rebellion (Lies).” Click on for the trailer.
How unbelievably awesome does this movie look? Feuds between Jonzes and WB plagued and delayed production, since apparently Jonzes made the movie a tad more artsy and a tad less blockbuster-y than Warner Brothers wanted. It seemed that they thought the movie he made would be too hard to market, too scary for kids, and too indie-based for a mass appeal. Well, they got it wrong. Whether you’re an Arcade Fire fan or you’ve never heard of them, this is a brilliant trailer, with stunning visuals, cool scribbly-font, and of course, great music in the background. The poster too proves that this movie could be marketed well, and could be a great success for WB. Do you guys like this trailer as much as I do?

Yeah, i doubt it’s a new version. The music supervisor for this trailer just knew what he was doing. Or not… not a huge fan of the splicing job they did.
I’m not terribly excited about the movie, but I’ll go see it. I’m very, very excited about Karen O’s involvement in the score.

I can’t F-ing wait for this film. I adored the trailer and the Arcade Fire track accompanying it. Also, I noticed in the credits at the end, KAREN-O is doing the soundtrack!?!?! What is DIS?!?! October 16th can’t come soon enough.
any word on what version this is of wake up? it’s definitely not the one you posted. new arrangement obviously but vocals sound different too.
Not sure, I realized it was a tad different…
I don’t think the vocals sound different but the instrumentals are definitely a bit toned down, a bit acoustic…maybe it’s a new version for the movie? I hope they wind up in the actual film!
And yeah I forgot to mention Karen O in the post but she’s scoring the movie, it’s gonna be sick.
