Brooklyn’s Widowspeak are good at slow-burning, tenderly nostalgic psych-folk, complete with echo-y guitar that sounds like watching the sun set, warm, sweet, confessional vocals from frontwoman Molly Hamilton, and midway-through breaks into massive, simmering thunderstorm territory.

Their second record, Almanac, is due January 22 via Captured Tracks; here’s its lead single, “Ballad of the Golden Hour,” which will lull you halfway into an uneasy reverie and then knock you out. Listen below:
