YACHT may have just produced the song of the summer with “Psychic City (Voodoo City),” a glorious cut from their upcoming See Mystery Lights (with some of the coolest album art ever!). I’ll admit that I haven’t really been a follower of ’s music and, what I hear are exciting shows, but when I heard “Psychic City (Voodoo City),” I knew that I had fallen in love. The new single is at their merriest — this song shuffles through propelling beats, strategically-placed handclaps, and strumming guitars, while project the thoughts of a band without a care in the world, a band that lives in a city where your friends throw parties for you everyday, in a city where kitchen sinks speak, and in a city where you fall in love. This Psychic City, Voodoo City, and Heartbeat City are the three worlds want to immerse you in, a place where “your dreams would come true.”

Another band sanctioned by LCD Soundsystem’s James Murphey, YACHT’s new album is something I am definitely looking forward to this summer. See Mystery Lights is out July 28th via . Read on to download “Psychic City”

I mean, it’s an alright track…. but “song of the summer?” Really, guys?

This is just as much an amalgamation of every other post-indie-pop cross-genre-whatever-you-want-to-call-it band as the next.

Unless you have some thing for female lead singers sounding like they are too cool to actually sing their own songs, I give it a meh out of ten.
