I haven’t been given the chance to give the new Arctic Monkeys album a real listen. So far, it has been one track here and there (I know, terrible thing to do when listening to an album for the first time). So far it seems as though Humbug makes more sense as a follow up to The Last Shadow Puppets’ album. It’s moody and melancholy, something that really shouldn’t be released before October. The Arctic Monkeys are harshing my summer buzz and I’m not really appreciating.
However, “Cornerstone” has sat well with me and as been the only track off Humbug that I put on repeat. I quite like it, but I usually enjoy Alex Turner’s almost tongue-in-cheek ballads (read: Mardy Bum). You ought to listen to it.

Definitely my favourite song off Humbug, at this point it is the top of my list of stand outs.
Lately I’ve been hearing The Last Shadow Puppets in my head and I guess this is why, I think you’re on to something, though I could kinda see this trajectory from Favourite Worst Nightmare. I like it.

This actually sounds like the arctic monkeys, much more than the rest of the cd, i like it muchly
new superlatives need to be invented to describe Humbug. current ones do not do it justice. it’s almost perfection. every track ends with you needing to hear more and more of this sound. The sound of humbug has been emerging for a while now heard slightly on favourite worst nightmare and more so on the age of the understatement. I can’t turn the album off. And yes. cornerstone is a kind of peak, but not standard wise. the last three songs just get back to the dark, gritty energy felt throughout this album. WOW
yeaaah, this is defo one of my favourites.
and @Disco, are you saying you have the album?
would you be able to show me where you got it please?
