List is too limiting…No Bloc Party, Kashmir, Minus the Bear, We Are Scientists, or Wintersleep. My vote would go for one of those at least before the list provided.

Bright Eyes…? I'm Wide Awake It's Morning… That would be my pick. Also, Andrew Bird, The Mysterious Production of Eggs

I was waiting specifically for the 2005 poll so Bloc Party's Silent Alarm could get the recognition it deserves, yet it's not even here.

It seems like a no brainer considering the world-wide critical acclaim it received.

None of these albums seem worthy of the title, possibly LCD Soundsystem but really there were far better releases than these that year.

You are missing Bloc Party's Silent Alarm! And I don't know if Demon Days is 2005 but if so, that's a huge one. And Andrew Bird according to vking?

We Are Scientists should probably at least make the list as well…

Of all these LCD Soundsystem is the best, but this is definitely a limited list.

Yeah, I would have vote for Bloc Party or Sigur Ros, but seeing as how both of those were left out, I went for LCD Soundsystem. Tough year to try and get everything in though so it's a forgivable offense.

Would like to hear the reason for leaving Silent Alarm off the list. Wow

Settled for Sufjan Stevens.

2005 was a tough year to narrow the list down, but i'd hoped to see imogen heap get an honorable mention here. i'm curious to see how this pans out, though…

Andrew Bird, Bloc Party, Sigur Ros… all missing. I can't get behind that (especially Andrew Bird and Sigur Ros)… even though my vote still goes to Sufjan

Its been said, but Silent Alarm HAS to be in this list.

Well, everyone said it already.

In PMA's defense, they lifted most of the albums from that Pazz & Jop Poll, where Bloc Party is not listed. Plus, I've read Luis comment that he's not that big of a fan of the band.

Still, it would have been nice to see “Silent Alarm” up there considering you've taken the liberty of picking 3 more albums to replace the 3 others you didn't include from the Poll. I mean, it's still lauded critically and it was able to create a stir among the blogosphere, with the band gaining a respectable following in the process. That made me think that they'd be included here. Hehe. =P

That said, “Silent Alarm” is my PERSONAL FAVORITE record of 2005. Yes, I am aware that the band is sadly moving further away from their original sound, their latest offering (One More Chance) is their most underwhelming yet, and my mind tells me I should give up on them; BUT whenever I put this on, I am reminded of their brilliance and I am quickly pulled in again. This album pretty much soundtracked my whole year at that time.

I'd also like to give props to System of a Down's “Mezmerize”. That album was CrazyKookyCool. Hahahaha.

hard, hard, hard year to choose….Late Registration is definitely a classic, and so is Get Behind Me, Satan.

Also, where is Silent Alarm?

got to appreciate that it's impossible to make these lists without pissing some people off – but I can't bring myself to vote for anyone on that list over Silent Alarm!

There's a lot of great albums there, but do you really think a vote is necessary? Is anyone seriously going to vote for anything other than Illinois?
A great ones that should be mentioned.
Ben Folds – Songs For Silverman
Bloc Party – Silent Alarm
Bright Eyes – I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning
The Decemberists – Picaresque
Death Cab For Cutie – Plans
Spoon – Gimme Fiction

LCD & Illinois set the bar pretty high, but agreed on these biggies overlooked:
Bloc Party—Silent Alarm
Gorillaz—Demon Days
Sigur Rós—Takk…
Spoon—Gimme Fiction

Also missing:
Blonde Redhead—23
Doves—Some Cities
Kaiser Chiefs—Employment
Röyksopp—The Understanding

It didn’t even occur to me that Kaiser Chiefs was missing as well! That’s a highly underrated album.

I’ve never commented on here, but seeing that Bloc Party’s Silent Alarm and DCFC’s Plans weren’t on this list, i felt compelled to comment. Two of the best albums of the year hands down.

Honestly, why is Feels on this list?!
AC is a good band now, but that album sucked (minus Purple Bottle, Banshee Beat, and Grass)
but seriously, this selection is very very weak.
