Comments on: Japandroids – Post-Nothing, Album Review

You really summed up what Japandroids are about. I have failed miserably at trying to explain why this band rocks. On first listen, it almost sounds like noise. Loud guitars and drums with lyrics you can't quite make out at first. It even took me a few listens to really understand why they are so good. They take a sound that is so simplistic and create these passionate songs that come from a vulnerable place. “Young Hearts Spark Fire” is what sold me on them. That lyric: “We used to dream, now we worry about dying,” is so genuine. “Post-Nothing” was my summer record and it was everything a summer soundtrack should be. I'm going to see them tonight at Mercury Lounge in New York City hoping to relive some of the memories from last summer.

This mess of an album got a higher rating than Pictureplane? Really?!

I deleted them out of my LastFM because I don’t even want recommendations for something similar! It’s prettymuchnoise!

I can’t say I agree… put “I Quit Girls” next to “Heart Sweats” or “Young Hearts Spark Fire” and think about it again. When I first started listening to the album, it all blurred together. Give it time and eventually it might hook you like it did me.

Great album, they keep a great consistent loudness throughout all songs and keep good vibez in the mix.

really like it, sounding this raw and fresh and genuine is not as easy as some might think. i hope they retain their garage sound on album two and don’t up the production.

I hear good things about this album. It sounds like it’s doing a lot with a little. The tracks all feel stripped down and basic but still there’s a lot of energy behind it. It does seem like some tracks might get a bit monotonous though.

I liked I Quit Girls the most. Felt louder than the other two. And when the drums kick in, it’s all good.
