The experimental composer Jon Hopkins was working on the score for filmmaker Kevin Macdonald’s new project How I Live Now when he decided to invite Bat for Lashes’ Natasha Khan over to lend a hand in a two-day session. Here’s the result of that collaboration – the eerie, lovely ballad “Garden’s Heart,” our first taste of a soundtrack that also includes Nick Drake, Daughter, Amanda Palmer, and others. Listen while you watch the Khan-directed video, starring the film’s star Saoirse Ronan wandering bloodied through an empty house, haunted by memories of war. The single’s out October 8, the (great-looking) film out October 18, and the rest of the soundtrack record out in November – check this one out in the meantime.
