Lady GaGa Dance In The Dark, New Album stream music favorite songs Speakers opens to distortion, faceless moans and the words “silicone, saline, poison, inject me baby. I’m a free bitch, I’m a free bitch”. This is how Lady GaGa kicks off her most intricate and engaging song yet.

The tremendous chorus, “baby loves to dance in the dark, cos when he’s looking she falls apart” is heartbreaking and is empowered by a later lyric, “she looks good, but her boyfriend says she’s a tramp.”

“Dance In The Dark” has a fragile quality to it. The luminous synth feels strained, yet the vocal track resolute. The song’s sincere-sounding back story of the marginalization of women and potentially abusive relationships is a surprising change of pace for Lady GaGa, who has made a career out of sensationalizing fame and sex.

“Dance In The Dark” will appear on Lady GaGa’s new album, The Fame Monster, which has just been announced. Lady GaGa’s debut record, The Fame will no longer be re-issued with the 8 new tracks (including “Bad Romance”, “Alejandro”, and now “Dance In The Dark”), instead, those 8 tracks will be released as a singular album and will be sold for only $8.00. I think this makes Lady GaGa the coolest pop star ever. The Fame Monster will be out on Interscope on November 24th.

you’re the type of music listener i despise, with your pretentious comments as if somehow the your music taste is superior because p4k gives your fav artists higher ratings. automatically neglecting a song because that artist is considered mainstream is fucking stupid, no knowledgeable music listener would do that.I’m basing this whole argument on the assumption that you didn’t even listen to the song, because your insight is lacking! feel free to prove me wrong though.

On Topic I’m not the hugest Lady Gaga Fan, but she does release very dance friendly songs which i can never have any complaints about.

I totally agree with kayehbee. This is why I love PMA. There’s no sense of music elitism here, like on other sites (Stereogum, Pitchfork, Gorilla vs Bear, other blogs). I love that you can say “My Girls” or Merriweather Post Pavilion are the best song/album of the year, yet still have the ability to enjoy, nay, love Lady GaGa.

Am I the only one in the world who think that the melody in the chorus sounds like How Deep Is Your Love by the Bee Gees ?
Please tell me that i’m not alone …

she’s a horrid copycat..copies everybody..the beginning is definitely like DM.. a mix of Strange love and I’d add also The thing you said, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FpOm5dpTDn4&feature=related, start listening the synth from 0:53 to 1:10… and Shouldnt have done that synth as well http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=diQwoot067w&feature=related … she’s not original…no new to the music…she dares to claim she brings sth new to the music while she is just a poor copy

I dunno, I just feel like her music is 90% image and 10% sound. And I don’t like the image, so even when the sound is good, it’s still a failing grade for me….

Rip off? No. Madonna has gone downhill over the last few years. Lady Gaga is PICKING UP her slack! I’m glad someone is there to be who Madonna is supposed to be.

she is probably the most talented “mainstream” artist in American right now. I’m glad that she is still delivering great tunes after her first album. If anything, “Bad Romance” “Alejandro” and “Dance In The Dark” show true growth in songwriting. Gaga is here to stay, I believe.

Thank God, i finally figured it out. It’s not How Deep is Your Love Alex, its Careless Whisper by Wham, you’ll instantly recognize it.

The synth line at the beginning sounds a lot like Depeche Mode, “Strangelove”… just played in a slightly different order.

Decent song, though.

Reply

Bruno December 17, 2009 at 11:25 pm

I think both songs are sampled in Dance in the Dark. Careless Whisper and How Deep Is Your Love.

It sounds like Send me an Angel by Real Life in the beginning, I could sing the lyrics with it. Kinda like Strange Love by DM, too. Great song! Love the Lady Gaga.

Ace of Base? Abba? Maybe. Not so much.
However, Alejandro most closely resembles “Down Under” by Men at Work.
How does she get away with ripping this stuff off?

Reply

That song sounds nothing like “Alejandro”. Listen to mash ups of “Alejandro” and “Don’t Turn Around” the INFLUENCE (key word) is clearly there. ABBA’s “Fernando” is also obviously the lyrical inspiration.

Dance in the Dark has a hint of True Faith by New Order in it.
