Marcus Mumford & Justin Timberlake – “The Auld Triangle”

Inside Llewyn Davis Soundtrack

We’re pretty psyched about the Coen Brothers’ new film, and not only because the premise sounds awesome – Inside Llewyn Davis follows an aspiring folk musician around the hyper-competitive Greenwich Village scene of the 1960s. The T-Bone Burnett-produced soundtrack includes music by some of the film’s stars, including Oscar Isaac, Justin Timberlake, Adam Driver, and Carey Mulligan, as well as some outside help from musicians like Marcus Mumford and Chris Thile and Chris Eldridge of the Punch Brothers. You can stream the whole soundtrack courtesy NPR today, but we just have to steer your attention in the direction of this version of the traditional Irish folk tune “The Auld Triangle,” which features some lovely harmonizations from Mumford, Timberlake, Thile, and Eldridge. Check it out.
