HIGHLY REC’D: LCD Soundsystem – “Home”

When This is Happening first came out, I listened to “Home” every day. Every time I got in my car, every time I turned on my iPod, every time I started listening to music for any reason, “Home” was playing. James Murphy has never allowed himself to be this vulnerable before on a song, not even on “All My Friends” or “New York I Love You, but You’re Bringing Me Down”, and that is what makes “Home”, to me, the most moving song Murphy has written. LISTEN: Daft Punk – “Derezzed” (from the Tron Legacy Theme)

Don’t get too excited — this 20 second clip, dubbed “Derezzed”, was apparently fished out of the Tron Legacy website by some hack-savvy Daft Punk fan. So that is kind of a guarantee in its authenticity, but then again, it’s too short to tell the difference either way. WATCH: John Legend & The Roots – “Wake Up” (Arcade Fire Cover)

John Legend & The Roots released their first collaborative covers LP, Wake Up!, last week to critical and commercial embracement (the set is due to debut within the Top 10 this week). To celebrate, John Legend & The Roots teamed up with acclaimed director Spike Lee to deliver a live streaming concert as part of American Express’ Unstaged concert series. During the concert at New York City’s Terminal 5, John Legend & The Roots covered Arcade Fire’s “Wake Up” — the song that inspired their collaboration in the first place. (Continue Reading)
