A few realizations since we last heard a transmission from the Australian psych outfit Pond’s weirdo universe: frontman Nick Allbrook has left Tame Impala to focus on this project, and the band’s new record is indeed called Hobo Rocket. “Xanman” is the next offering the band have for us from that record, a six-minute psychedelic pop fist-pumper that sounds like it’ll produce a kaleidoscopic video cut from Woodstock footage (yes, it’s that nuts). Bonus points: the riff that kicks in toward the song’s latter third is positively, irresistibly triumphant. Check it out – you need only wait til August 6 for the rest of the record.
