New Kanye West Music Video- “Welcome To Heartbreak”

Not quite sure what I think of this  (intentionally) distorted, pixelated video. It goes with the depressed, low-fi song and all, but it isn’t too enjoyable to watch. Your thoughts? Thanks to Stereogum.

  1. I came up with an opinion- this video is amazing.

I like it. It’ s art by an artist. He’s obviously not doing the /mainstream/ thing that it works for him.

  3. The new chairlift vid directed by ray tintori looks very similar (released more than a week ago!). you can see it here: http://www.court13.com/Chairlift-EvidentUtensil.mov
i’m not crazy about the pixelation… some transitions work better than others but overall it’s not as pretty too look at as it seems like it should be. cool concepts for both though.

  4. Beautiful.

  5. Chuy

    Awesome.

  6. Well, I think the video is definitely being released but that “Amazing,” and not this song, will be the next single.

  7. I read this wasn’t being released because another artist was using the same concept (I’d love to see that video, too), so he’s scrapping it and releasing “Amazing” instead, I think.

But I think this is an amazing video. I’ve had to watch it a few times to really watch everything that’s going on. Kind of reminds me of the Windows Media Player/iTunes visual equalizer in video form. Would love to see it in High Def.

the first thing that popped into my head was, Kanye sure looks like Bill Cosby in that sweater…I mean..seriously. Other than that the video was cool

    groundbreaking, as usual.

  12. Looks like Kanye’s certainly enjoying himself.

  13. I think that the video being intentionally pixelated goes with what the song is about. The whole heartbreak situation isn’t pretty and neither should the video.
